Baileys Woods Campground
Baileys Harbor, WI
Baileys Bluff Campground has been acquired this winter and the new name will be Baileys Woods Campground. We will do a new review this summer when they are ready. Apparently, they will be doing some nice things to the grounds and some upgrades - so more later! For your convenience, the old review remains below.
OLD REVIEW:
Baileys Bluff Campground is a nice, heavily wooded, campground about 2 miles west of Baileys Harbor, Wisconsin. At the time I visited there was no one in the camp office. A sign said to go to the house in the "next driveway". I was not sure where exactly they were meaning, as there were a few homes adjacent to the campground with indistinct driveway access. I guess I just could've started randomly knocking.
Baileys Bluff Campground is not the 'newest campground on the block'. The facilities have seen younger days, to be nice about it. The one thing going for this place is the nice woodsy feel, and the well-spaced sites. With so many campgrounds having no or very few trees, this makes Baileys Bluff Campground nicer than most in this regard.
The bath house near the entrance to camp was quite dated. The women's bathroom had one tiny stall with an ancient toilet, and a coin-op shower. It felt like the ceiling height was about 6 and a half feet. Unfortunately, the ambiance was "enhanced" with a freezer of odiferous fish entrails right outside the door, of course accompanied by many friendly flies.
There is a seperate bath house and laundry facility on the west side of camp. This one does appear to be more recently built. There are coin-op showers here also. There are also port-o-potties at the far end of camp if you happen to get a site that's quite a hike from the bath house.
Also, the driveway leading into Baileys Bluff Campground is very steep. Make sure your tow vehicle has ample muscle in the engine to drag your rig up this cliff side. At least it's a short run of steepness.
