Beantown Campground

Beantown Campground must be the newest of the campgrounds in Door County. The advantage of this is the nice, new, clean facilities.
I was very impressed with the quality, real, tile floor in the bath house. Overall the new bath house building was stellar. I'd go barefoot there anytime. It's an indication of the care these folks are taking with building their fledgling campground.
 The pool is on the larger size and nice and clean. It's of a shape that gives the campground its namesake. Hence, "Beantown Campground". This looks like a cool place to hang out.
 The playset is a wonderfully big, new, wooden set. The only disadvantage is it's way out in the open with no chance for shade. Planting 2 or 3 deciduous trees (silver maples are pretty fast growing) now would give some hope for future shade for kids' tender skin.
 The game room looks like it's still in the works of being finished. It's currently in a large pole barn type building right next to the pool.
The biggest disadvantage to being such a new place is the small trees and lack of shade in the campsites. It appears like there might be some shade among a few pine trees at the far end of the campground, but these may be only for tenting (not sure). I realize it takes a very long time to grow trees to a nice shade-producing size. But, there's no better time to start planting and watering than now. Overall, Beantown Campground is a nice, very new, campground.

Stuff To Do In Baileys Harbor, WI
For the most complete listing of stuff to do in Baileys Harbor, Wisconsin just go to Baileys Harbor Community Association website. They have info on fishing and the marina, current events and festivals, other lodging options, restaurants, shops, and a neat photo gallery.WisTravel.com has a nice few pages on Baileys Harbor. They list phone numbers and addresses, but very few hyperlinks to other websites, making it kind of a dead end for an internet search. WorldWeb.com has a page on Baileys Harbor with a lot of links to other information, stores, restaurants, tourist attractions, etc. You can even add a review for your favorite place there. The Ridges Sanctuary is a wonderful 1600 acre nature preserve on the north side of Baileys Harbor. Established in 1937 it's the oldest preserve in Wisconsin. They have over 5 miles of trails with bridges over the wet areas, an educational program series for families during the summer, and snowshoe hikes in the winter. A few of the great events at Baileys Harbor planned for the summer are the Brown Trout Tournament (mid April), Lighthouse Tour and Craft Show (mid May), 4th of July Celebration, and Autumnfest (late September).
