Wagontrail Campground

by Angel
(Anoka, Minnesota)

We stayed at the Wagontrail Campground and we really enjoyed our experience. We have three younger children, and cleanliness is something not usually associated with a campground, but it was such a luxury to be able to take the kids into the showers in the evening to wash off the day's dirt before going to bed! It was clean and well maintained as well as heated!! The heated shower/bathroom facility was greatly appreciated as the evenings have been cool in this area and it helped get everyone acclimated for nighty-night time. The toilets had toilet paper in stock at all times and there was none of the overflowing toilets here.

The showers were a dream! They had a removable shower nozzle so that all the children could be thoroughly rinsed off and there was shampoo and soap provided (though we had come prepared with our own). We were able to plug in the hairdryer so no one had to go to bed with a wet head, which on a cool night can make camping a tad uncomfortable.

Each campsite had it's own picnic table and fire ring. These were in great condition (no broken seats, graffiti, or paint peeling off) and the fire ring was more than adequate for our s'more cooking needs. The campsite was even so it wasn't hard to pitch the tent and worry that you would roll down hill unto the others.

The scenery is beautiful and the early morning birdsongs and light breeze through the trees made me want to extend our stay if we had had the time available. We will definitely be coming back here as there are many walking trails and wilderness adventures we have yet to have there. The kids loved it and no one was whining on when we were going home, just whining that we were forcing them to go home and leave the campground.

The rates are reasonable and a nice change from hotels and motels. I do have to comment that the shower pressure was better than a motel that will remain unnamed that we stayed at last year on a week-long trip to another state.
